The writer has immersed herself into an underworld that has been tunneled un- der the ancient ruins of a former Chicago. A new Chicago thrives many meters above. Rocks underneath the city contain the story of a forgotten meta-race of rock/human hybrids. There are warnings posted on the cave walls of the Naiad and the Scorpio, two clans, two lovers, Romeo and Juliet, Circe and Odysseus, Eurydice and Orpheus, Bonnie and Clyde.
